Mount Whitney IR

Mount Whitney (Paiute: Tumanguya) is the highest mountain in the contiguous United States and the Sierra Nevada, with an elevation of 14,505 feet. The peak rises dramatically above the Owens Valley, sitting 10,778 feet above the town of Lone Pine 15 mi to the east, in the Owens Valley. This stitched gigapixel panorama is taken from the Alabama Hills just outside Lone Pine with a custom infrared camera back, resulting in little or no atmospheric haze, revealing the peak clearly.
